How to choose a cowboy hat
Six things to check before you pick, from the crown to the size.
Start with the crown shape
The crown gives the hat its character. The cattleman is the classic, with a center crease and two side dents. The pinch front feels more relaxed, the gambler sits low and flat, and the open road keeps things discreet for daily wear.
Pick the brim for your day
A 4 inch brim gives real shade for ranch work and long days outside. A 3 to 3 1/2 inch brim is easier to wear in town, in a truck or at a wedding, and suits shorter men well.
Choose the material for the season
Felt cowboy hats are the fall and winter standard and shed light rain. Straw cowboy hats breathe in the heat. Leather cowboy hats handle rain and dust and can be worn all year.
Get the size right
Measure your head and compare it to the cowboy hat size chart. A hat that fits sits level, stays put in the wind and leaves no mark on your forehead.
Match the color to the occasion
Black and dark brown read formal and work for evenings and events. Tan, silverbelly and natural straw are the daytime colors, made for rodeos, barbecues and the ranch.
Look after it
Store the hat on its crown or on a hook, never flat on the brim. Brush felt counter-clockwise, and let a wet hat dry at room temperature, away from heat.

Wrap a soft tape around your head, just above the ears and eyebrows.

One size fits most: the cord inside the crown tightens or loosens the fit.

How do I choose my cowboy hat size?
Most of our hats are one size, 56 to 58 cm (22 to 22 7/8 in), with an adjustable cord inside the crown. Measure around your head just above the ears: from 54 to 59 cm the hat fits once you adjust the cord. Above 59 cm, choose the 60-62 cm version when the hat offers it.
How long does delivery take?
Orders are prepared in 1 to 3 business days, then delivered in 7 to 10 business days with tracking. Shipping is free to the US and worldwide.
Can I exchange or return my hat?
Yes. You have 14 days after delivery to return or exchange an unworn hat in its original condition.
